Data privacy and its safeguarding are key concerns for Stiftung TUW Foundation (in short: TUW Foundation) – also called TU Wien Foundation. Personal data is processed in strict compliance with the principles and requirements laid down in the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG). TUW Foundation only processes the data necessary to achieve the intended purposes and strives at all times to ensure the security and accuracy of data. Purposes of data processing

The purposes of the data processing correspond to the purposes of the Foundation. These are the promotion of science, research and teaching, as well as associated continuing education and training and innovative projects.

Legal basis of the data processing

This use of personal data is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR in conjunction with. Section 3 no. 8 and no. 11 of the Austrian Universities Act 2002 (“promotion of the use and practical application of their research findings, and of community involvement in efforts to promote the advancement and appreciation of the arts”, and “provision of public information on the performance of the tasks of the universities”).

Categories of recipients of personal data

Depending on the processing of the personal data, the recipients may be the following:

  • Foundation Board (pursuant to Section 7 of the Founding Declaration of TUW Foundation)
  • Foundation authorities within the scope of their supervisory duty
  • Auditors within the scope of their auditing duty

Personal data will not be passed on to third parties without express consent, with the following exception: For the printing and mailing of event invitations and follow-up information relating to the event, personal data (name, address) will be passed on to printers and to Österreichische Post AG (Austrian Post), and this data may be passed on to event agencies for the purpose of organising events.

Advertising of events with personal data

Personal data (name, employer, photograph) of designated persons, for example speakers and participants in panel discussions, are published for the purpose of advertising an event.

Recording and storage of event photographs

During the events we organise, photographs are taken for post-event reporting and for advertising forthcoming events. If you do not want photographs to be taken of you, you may exercise your right and make your wishes known at the time. Depending on the type of event, there are various ways to have your wishes taken into account and acted upon at the time.

Storage duration

We store your data for such time as there is a legitimate and public interest in doing to, or for as long as consent has been given.

Your rights in connection with personal data

As the subject of this data processing, you have the following rights in relation to TUW Foundation:

  • Right to rectification
  • Right to erasure
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object

Personal data that you may send to us via contact forms, registration forms and similar websites on our web servers will only be accepted with your consent and will be used only for the purpose stated on the forms. On all forms, only such personal data as is absolutely necessary will be collected.

Right to withdraw consent pursuant to Art. 7 GDPR

Every data subject has the right to withdraw his or her consent at any time in writing by sending an e-mail to Michael Kaiser (office@tuwien.foundation). The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Right to lodge a complaint

If you believe that the processing of your data contravenes data protection law or that your data protection rights have been otherwise breached, you can lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (https://www.dsb.gv.at).
